NISHKAM FOUNDATION

Nishkam Foundation is a non-profit non-governmental organization (NGO) working in the field of Mental Health and Drug Abuse. Working on a mission to empower and enable the community for promotion and restoration of mental health, we at Nishkam Foundation are cherishing a dream of contributing towards the mental health of our 1.2 billion strong community in India by developing and implementing community based innovative strategies and progammes in the field of mental health and drug abuse. We adopt a bottom up approach in which we think from the community perspective and act in the community context. We engage the community in mental health programmes and put community resources in use for the mental health of people in the community. We facilitate a process of people taking responsibility of their own mental health.

Awards & Recognitions

Buckshey Award

Buckshey Award for the best research paper in the 37th Annual Conference of Indian Psychiatric Society- North Zone at Sri Ganganagar in October 2012. The research work on pathway to psychiatric care carried out jointly by Nishkam Foundation, Department of Psychiatry, SP Medical College, Bikaner (Raj.) and Tek Chand Sidana Memorial Psychiatric hospital and Deaddiction Centre, Sri Ganganagar (Raj.)

Recognition

Nishkam Volunteers have been honoured regularly by the government at Independence Day and Republic Day functions at Sangaria for their selfless humanitarian work. These volunteers include Mr Ravinder Singh, Mr Mahavir Gujjar, Mrs Suman Gujjar, Mr Ravinder Singh Saddal, Mrs Usha Trehan, Mr Vinod Nyol, Mr Vinod Khichad to mention a few names.

Prof. Shiv Gautam Oration Award

Professor Shiv Gautam Oration Award to Dr Dhanesh Kumar Gupta in 2017 for community mental health work carried out under the auspices of Nishkam Foundation and its collaborating organizations. The oration was delivered at the 32nd Annual Conference of Indian Psychiatric Society- Rajasthan Branch held at Ajmer in September 2017.

Humphrey Alumni Impact Award

Humphrey Alumni Impact Award to Dr Dhanesh Kumar Gupta in 2011- The award money was used to start Community Mental Health Campaign

Healthcare Humanity Award

Healthcare Humanity Award to Dr Dhanesh Kumar Gupta in 2014, an award by Government of Singapore for humanitarian work in the field of health.
